If you employ drivers, keep these tips in mind for everyone’s safety!
- Develop a written passenger policy approved by your liability insurance carrier.
- The policy as a minimum should define relationship to the driver, minimum age and specified time limit on the unit. It should also address the safety of the passenger and what they are allowed to do. The policy should be signed by the driver upon hire.
- Require the driver to keep a copy of the authorization in the unit to show an officer upon request.
- Provide company identification to any employee who would ride with a driver as a passenger, i.e. supervisor or helper.
