Thanking America’s Truckers from Coast to Coast
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is September 15-21, 2024
Americans and Canadians have taken extraordinary steps to show their appreciation for the important work that professional truck drivers have done. From children handing out lunches to “I Heart Truck” signs along highways, the public has recognized the essential role truck drivers play in their lives. As we reflect on the past three years, do you wonder where we would be today if truck drivers had refused to deliver our personal protective equipment (PPE), food, medical supplies, and so much more at the onset of the COVID pandemic.
This week in September is a small way to show appreciation for the 3.5 million professional men and women who not only deliver our goods safely, securely, and on time, but also keep our highways safe. Start planning now to do something special for your drivers during this week dedicated to recognizing them.
Thanking America’s Truckers from Coast to Coast
Each year, more than 3.5 million American truckers drive over 330 billion miles. That is the equivalent of more than 13 million trips around the globe or nearly 1,800 round trips to the sun.
Every one of those miles represents a stocked store shelf, a package placed on a household doorstep, raw materials delivered to a manufacturer, and equipment transported to a construction site.
Truck drivers are not only the lifeblood of our economy, but an integral part of our daily lives as well. Countless American jobs depend on the hundreds of billions of miles that truckers drive. In addition, more than 80% of U.S. communities depend solely on trucking for the delivery of their goods and commodities.
Truck drivers fulfill an essential and enormous responsibility, and their impressive level of dedication and commitment to safety should be matched by our deepest gratitude. We will have that opportunity again this year from September 15-21. That is when we will celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, an annual event devoted to recognizing the men and women who drive America forward and keep our communities supplied.
We encourage you to join us in going the extra mile by thanking America’s truck drivers through this year’s theme, “From Coast to Coast: Celebrating Truck Drivers.” Taking the time to say “thank you”—or posting on social media with the hashtag #thankatrucker—goes a long way for drivers who travel a long way for us.
