Planning for Labor Day 2020

What a weird year 2020 has been?!  Here are some safety tips for this weekend!

LABOR DAY WEEKEND – ROADS ARE MORE CROWDED

The National Safety Council (NSC) estimates 421 people may be killed and another 48,400 may be seriously injured in car crashes for the three-day holiday period, which is 11 percent higher than the average number of deaths, 378 for past Labor Day weekends.

SAFETY TIPS INCLUDE:

• Wear your seatbelt, including all passengers and restrain children properly
• Don’t drink (or take other drugs that main impair performance) and drive – Even over the counter medications can cause impairment
• Don’t drive drowsy – FMCSA data on Driver Fatigue
• Don’t text (or look at facebook) while you drive (mobile phone usage is involved in 26 percent of all motor vehicle crashes)
• Know your vehicle, perform due diligence checks and maintenance on your truck or car before hitting the road this weekend
