Cumberland partnered with End Slavery Tennessee for their event, Drive-In & Drive Out Trafficking, hosted at our location in Lebanon, TN back in June.

Drive-In & Drive Out Trafficking was a Drive-In moved hosted at our dealership location in Lebanon, TN.

The event was a huge success by our standards.  It was an awareness campaign, designed to bring knowledge about Human Trafficking, to as many people as possible. Organizers noted that we had attendees coming in from as far as Crossville, TN to watch. The weather was warm, but the snow cones were cool. There was a taco truck and vendor booths to visit in addition to the movie. The goal was to educate folks and we accomplished that, even down to the vendors who donated goods to make the event a success.

HUGE THANKS TO OUR PARTNERS

The following donated goods or services to help the event run smoothly, we could not have done it without them!

  • Pollock Printing
  • United Rentals
  • Liberty Waste
  • M&W Freight
  • End Slavery Tennessee

Drive-In & Drive Out Trafficking screened I Am Jane Doe, a documentary chronicles the epic battle that several American mothers are waging on behalf of their middle-school daughters, victims of sex-trafficking on Backpage.com.

ABOUT I AM JANE DOE: Called “a gripping legal thriller” (Esquire), “a powerful call to action” (The Los Angeles Times), “the rare social-issue documentary that has an effect” (The Washington Post), I AM JANE DOE chronicles the epic battle that several American mothers are waging on behalf of their middle-school daughters, victims of sex-trafficking on Backpage.com, the adult classifieds site that for years was part of the Village Voice. Reminiscent of Erin Brockovich and Karen Silkwood, these mothers have stood up on behalf of thousands of others, fighting back and refusing to take no for an answer. It is a gut-wrenching human story and fresh look at a social and legal issue that affects every community in America. The voices of these mothers and their children, amplified by I AM JANE DOE, has helped to catalyze legislation which recently passed overwhelming in the House and Senate (97-2) and was signed by the President on April 11, 2018. The OECD, which invited Mary to speak about the issue of online harm, moved to amend its charter documentation, so that human rights violations and harm to children happening online are addressed as the organization moves forward to establish global policy for online platforms. The film opened theatrically with AMC Theatres and then screened on NETFLIX through 2020.

Film Runtime: 99 minutes. Unrated, but recommended PG-13.
